Have We Lost Our Minds?

I never ceased to be amazed. I feel like we have lost our minds as a country. What am I talking about? Did you hear how Congress was opened up on November 13th? I just learned about this today… john-boehner-starts-house-session-with-prayer-to-allah-imam-hamad-ahmad-chebli-rush-holt-november-2015-congress That’s a Muslim, Imam Hamad Ahmad Chebli, of the Islamic Society of Central Jersey (ISCJ) in Monmouth Junction. He gave the  opening prayer in the House of Representatives. The opening prayer asked for the “blessings” of Allah “the most merciful” to fall upon America. If you want to see the prayer, go here: http://endtimeheadlines.org/breaking-news/shock-john-boehner-opens-house-session-islamic-prayer-allah/ You will hear him say later in the prayer, “God.” But, that is code for Allah. Muslims also call Allah, “God.” Don’t be deceived. Today, this country has become totally about being politically correct and all-inclusive. All I can say is: “Unreal!” A nation founded on the principles of the Bible, now has a Muslim prayer offered from the halls of House of Representative. Our founding fathers are rolling over in their graves. Absolutely amazing! I was shocked and amazed that John Boehner not only joined in on inviting the Imam, but introduced him. What are we doing? What are we thinking? I’m telling you, we are going the way of Europe. Europe is principally Muslim now and we’re about 40-50 years behind the “Mother country.” My children and grandchildren will watch this unfold in America unless Jesus returns first. Can you fathom how quickly things are changing? Homosexuality will soon be ordered as “okay” by the Supreme Court this summer (my prediction from the last blog). Marijuana is legal in Washington and Colorado. That will continue. And now we welcome a Muslim Imam to offer a prayer to Allah (a god who does not even exist) in the hallowed halls of Congress? What are we thinking! Please understand, I’m all for sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with everyone…certainly Muslims need Christ. But, offering for Muslims to come and declare allegiance to Allah is totally over the top. Boehner ought to know better. I think he’s been lying in the sun too much. 🙂   Want to know where in the country that is fading the quickest? Barna Research can show us this… 01.13.14-BIBLEMINDEDCITIES1-e1421815916134 The red shows where the Bible is least respected and read. The Blue shows the most Bible minded cities. The Northeast is a sad place. Aren’t they getting hammered with a snowstorm tonight? Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not looking for coincidences. Just pointing out the obvious. I was surprised that Waterloo, Iowa was such an un-Bible-minded (is that a word) place? Let me give you something else to think about… IMG_2013 See this guy? 1280px-Bill_Walton_8-26-08   He’s basically an atheist. That’s Bill Walton. He’s a former NCAA and NBA Champion, now TV analyst for ESPN. But, I love the fact that a fellow TV commentator, Dave Pasch, also with ESPN kindly rebutted him. Watch… It’s only 1-minute long.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4YpwdHg-9i8

Well done Dave Pasch! Handled respectfully and with grace…yet firmly. Pasch is a devout Christian who is generally more than open about his faith. In fact, he includes a reference to John 1:14 in his Twitter biography, a verse which reads, “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth” — a reference to Jesus Christ. In a past interview with the blog “Jesus N Sports,” Pasch discussed his Christian faith and his sports career, mentioning John 1:14 as one of his favorite Bible verses. Among the subjects discussed in the interview was the honesty and openness with which Pasch said he discusses his faith. “I am pretty honest and forthright about my faith when it comes up in a conversation. I am a follower of Christ,” he said, describing how he would react to a colleague who asked about his beliefs. “I would tell them how I came up with that conclusion, continue to help someone understand.” Did you hear Pasch offer to Walton the concept of “irreducible complexity?” It is a theory espoused by some creationists that argues that “some biological systems are so complex and so dependent upon multiple complex parts, that they could not have evolved by chance,” according to GotQuestions.org. (one of my favorite websites). I’ll show you some “irreducible power” by my son, Andrew… Andrew breaking board How about some “irreducible cute?” Mars Hill #2That’s me in that little carrier along with my mom and dad. See that ’67 Mustang in the picture. This was circa 1968. Now let’s end up with “irreducible brains” from the Northeast… From the snow-blown city of Boston. Let’s see what a Harvard Professor has to say about democracy. This will take us all the way back to the beginning of our discussion and the Imam at the House of Representatives. This is a 90-second video by Harvard professor Clay Christensen from the viewpoint of a Chinese economics exchange student. This is why religious freedom is the main reason Democracy works. It’s 1-minute, 40 seconds long.

As Christianity fades in this nation, we won’t be able to hire enough police to protect us. If you think it’s nothing to have a Muslim Imam offering prayers to Allah in our hallowed halls, think again! Have we lost our minds? Only the Word of the ONLY, true and living God will renew our minds… Romans 12:1-2 1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Here We Go…

Here we go…

It’s come to this. These 9 folks will decide if gay marriage is to be legal in all 50 states by the end of June.

Supreme_Court_US_2010

The US Supreme Court has said they will hear the case in April and decide by June. Can I make a prognostication? They will say: “Gay is Okay.” Expect to see that as the headlines in the newspapers by early July. Why do I think this way? Simple. Because of the makeup of the court. Look above. First row…going left to right.

Justice Thomas will vote against gay marriage, so will Scalia, and Roberts. Kennedy will vote for gay marriage (he’s the swing vote) and so will Ginsburg. Back row. Sotomayor and Breyer will vote for it, while Alito votes no, with Kagan rounding out the yes votes. So that’s 5 to 4 FOR Gay Marriage.

Let me tell you why I believe Kennedy will be the deciding “yes” vote for gay marriage. First of all, the four conservative justices aren’t going to budge and the four liberal judges aren’t going to budge. They are dyed in the wool. Done deal. Kennedy has bounced around through the years as the one “moderate.” Yet, it’s different when it comes to this issue. Here’s why.

Now there are just 14 states in which same-sex couples cannot wed. The court’s decision to get involved is another marker of the rapid change that has redefined societal norms in the space of a generation.

The court will be weighing in on major gay rights issues for the fourth time in 27 years. In the first of those, in 1986, the court upheld Georgia’s anti-sodomy law in a devastating defeat for gay rights advocates. But the three subsequent rulings, all written by Justice Anthony Kennedy, were major victories for gay men and lesbians. Thus, in its most recent case in 2013, the court struck down part of a federal anti-gay marriage law in a decision that has paved the way for a wave of lower court rulings across the country in favor of same-sex marriage rights.

The way has been paved by what you just read in bold above. Kennedy will go with the liberals on this one. It shouldn’t surprise you that Attorney General Eric Holder said the Obama administration would urge the court “to make marriage equality a reality for all Americans.”

Here we go! By mid-summer gay marriage will be considered a civil right for all Americans and if you are on the opposite end of that stance, you will be labeled a hate-monger and bigot. So be ready and be prepared to lovingly give a reason for your hope.

Let me give you some reasons (contrary to what the Supreme Court will say).

Check out this site: http://suchweresomeofyou.org

It’s excellent. Read the accounts of folks who have been delivered from the homosexual lifestyle by the power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Bible records in 1 Corinthians 6:9-11.

Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, 10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Did you see the word “were” over and over in verse 11. Homosexuals CAN be delivered by the power of Jesus Christ just like the idolater, adulterer, thief, greedy person, and drunk. There IS deliverance or the word of God is a lie and so is God.

At the website listed above you will find a documentary that was inspired by the above passage of Scripture that declares that in Jesus’ day there was a population who had been so transformed by their relationship with Him that they were no longer “same-sex attracted” or at the very least, actively homosexual. They had found such a measure of healing from the brokenness and strongholds associated with what we now call homosexuality that they no longer considered themselves homosexual, nor did they act in that way.

“Such Were Some of You” features interviews with a “cloud of present-day witnesses” who testify to the same life-transforming power of Jesus Christ. They describe the development of their same-sex attractions, what the gay lifestyle was like, what their conversion process was like, and the various ways that Jesus has brought healing to their broken places. “Such Were Some of You” lays out the facts about healing homosexual confusion and rejoices in the reality that Jesus Christ can heal anyone from anything while providing grace for the journey.

But, as I said earlier, if you ascribe to the truth of God’s word that there is deliverance from the gay lifestyle, you will be blasted. If you don’t believe me, check out this 2 1/2 minute video clip from Richmond, Virginia.

http://www.fox8live.com/clip/10934328/billboard-in-richmond-claims-nobody-is-born-gay

Did you see how stunned the people were? Even the news reporter seemed stunned that anyone could possibly say there is deliverance from homosexuality. You see, when the Supreme Court is done this summer, it will be “Katy bar the door, trouble is in store.”

Folks I’m with Peter Mead, who wrote an article about the Word of God and preaching titled: “Great Preaching Leads to Godly Change. See article here: http://www.churchleaders.com/pastors/preaching-teaching/243224-great-preaching-leads-godly-change.html?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=clpastors_newsletter&utm_content=12/4/2014+10:20:50+AM

He says this:

Call it heart, call it values, call it appetites, whatever. The gospel transforms a life from the inside-out, from the heart outward. It takes the Spirit to plant an appetite (a relish) for Christ in the affections of someone. This is where I feel relieved of the pressure to bring about transformation, but also the incredible privilege of my position as preacher. I don’t twist arms to conform to behavioral standards for the sake of church conformity. I do present Christ and the Gospel in all its wonder and majesty and sweetness, and I do so absolutely dependent on God to bring about transformation.

Biblical preaching transforms lives, but it occurs from the inside out. Anything more superficial will tempt me into acting like a mini-god pressuring mini-gods into self-moved determination, and that just smacks of a fallen world perspective on the whole thing. God’s Word invites us to trust Him, we should do the same.

Amen Brother! You hit the nail on the head. We want to see people changed. We want to see people delivered from their sin, not be excused of it. I don’t want a drunk to stay drunk by saying everything is okay with how they are living anymore than I would want a man to continue to commit adultery against his wife and me say, “It’s okay…you were born an adulterer, you can’t help yourself, so go ahead.” Oh how that is a smack in the face of the life-giving and life-changing power of the Gospel (Good News) of Jesus Christ.

At some point people have to seek their identity in Christ. They don’t define themselves by saying, “I’m gay.” They define themselves by saying, “I’m a follower of Jesus. ” It’s all about identity. If you seek to continue to identify yourself by your sin, (no matter what it is), then you have likely not been regenerated and born again in Christ.

Oh, I pray that we, as believers, will not cave in to the culture, the Supreme Court, or even a friend or loved one who says they were born gay. I pray we will give them the life-altering Gospel of Jesus and watch the transformation.

11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Before I go…I’ve got to share couple of things that happened last week.

First, we lost a family pet. A wonderful, lively, out-going cat named Oreo. It just about crushed the kids, but the Lord used it to help us rejoice in the time we had together. Do you remember losing a family pet when you were a kid? It can be gut-wrenching. He was so sick…

IMG_19934

This is Kandace and Clara at the vet. Andrew, Pam and I were behind them. We had to say goodbye. He was only two years old and was eaten up with lymphoma. Thank you Lord for blessing us with such a wonderful, loving, cuddly, crazy, rambunctious cat. We’ll miss him, but in the “missing,” we’ll be grateful for the time we had with him.

Now for some lighter news. Just a few quick Papa and Charlotte pictures from the past weekend. Josh and Katy were in town. Check out this precious little girl…

IMG_2927.JPG

I love this next one. It shows why I am convinced the Scriptures teach that the meeting or gathering (we call it worship service) should include children.

IMG_1997

She is watching me on the screen above her head. Josh is holding her and Pam said, she kept craning her head to see me and she just stared and stared at me on the screen. Jesus said, “Suffer the little children to come unto me.” I’m so thankful MPBC sees the undeniable truth of the entire body (family) being together in the meeting/gathering/worship.

One last one. This was up at mom’s, where we had lunch in her dining room. Isn’t she just adorable?

I know, I know… I’m a doting grandfather… But, I just can’t help myself.

For the winter-weather fans out there, the pattern is finally changing. Haven’t seen it yet? 66 degrees today? Well, it’s coming. By next week at this time you’ll be shivering and don’t be surprised if there is a bit of the white stuff on the ground. 🙂

I can’t get that phrase out of my mind.

“Preach the Word.”

That’s our marching order in a nutshell.

Go and make disciples…

You are my witnesses…

You are my ambassadors…

As followers of Christ. As Christians (which literally means: little Christ), we have been commanded to continue the work that Jesus started. While He was here He said, “I am come to seek and save that which is lost.” We must continue the will of our Master.

But, we are called by the world to compromise that mission over and over again. We are wooed by Satan to live for our own kingdom, our own desires, our own goals.

Here we are in 2015. We’re firmly entrenched into the year. We’re already 13 days in… Will we live this year for the King of Kings and Lord of Lords? It’s your choice and it’s mine.

I preached a message last week about this command the Holy Spirit inspired the Apostle Paul to write to Timothy…

“Preach the word…”

I just can’t get it off my mind. I know most people think that command is just for “preachers.” But, the truth is: we’re all preachers! We all have our place of ministry. Your ministry is where you’re at! You understand that don’t you? Your ministry is where you are! It’s where you live, work, play, eat out, go to the grocery store, etc. It’s your job to reach the people in your circle of influence, your sphere of impact.

Yet, if you are going to reach people in your circle who don’t know Jesus, you are going to have to love them with the truth, not compromise. Do you get that? The truth…not compromise.

I love what Dr. David Black says:

“There can be no peace and joy until there is first righteousness. It is a great disservice to soothe unsaved people with a false peace and bestir them with an artificial joy when they are not right with God. Pain killers are not enough. The broken bones must be set first.”

I was tempted last week to compromise the truth of God’s word. I fought it in my mind for about 10 seconds and then I heard the voice of the Spirit and He said, “Kevin, preach the word.”

Paul was right.

1 I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry. 2 Timothy 4:1-5

Do you understand that we will suffer for proclaiming the truth? That’s why Paul told Timothy he better be ready to endure suffering. The only way we’ll fulfill our ministry is to be willing and ready to suffer for the truth, just as Jesus did.

Will we proclaim the Gospel?

“If we have lost the clear proclamation of the gospel—(Jesus’ death on the cross for our sin and in our place)—or if we downplay repentance and forgiveness, I think we’ve removed the intentional stumbling block of the cross.” Ed Stetzer, President, LifeWay Christian Bookstores

Jesus is stumbling block to this world. He’s not a fluffy cushion. He’s the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

“The message we have been given to preach is countercultural, status quo challenging…it cuts against the grain of surrounding culture, it convicts of sin, and it calls people to put their faith in Jesus Christ. It calls them to change direction.” Mark Dever, Pastor, Capitol Hill Baptist Church, Washington, D.C.

We live in a culture now where a Baptist Church has to write in their ad for a pastor that he must believe the Bible. Are you kidding? Click on the picture below from the Biblical Recorder if you don’t believe me.

Untitled1

Oh the itching ears of our day! They no longer want truth. They want a graven image…a god that suits their lifestyles, their habits, their inhibitions, their sins. What a slap in the face of Christ who died to set us free from our sins. The culture (even some in Christendom) want us to accept sin and “love” the person. Well, the greatest love we can show a person who is sick is to help them hold their nose as they swallow the medicine that will save their lives. A diabetic will have to endure the stick of the needle for the life-giving insulin. The pain lasts for a moment. For a sinner, they must understand the bad new, before they can understand and grasp the Good News. The good news of the Gospel is that Jesus died in our place so that we can receive His mercy and grace and forgiveness. But, they must hear the bad news.

Oswald Chambers wrote almost 100 years ago:

“In dealing with other people, our stance should always be to drive them toward making a decision of their will. That is how surrendering to God begins. The theme of the world’s religion today is to serve in a pleasant, non-confrontational manner. But our only priority must be to present Jesus Christ crucified— to lift Him up all the time (1 Corinthians 2:2).

Every belief that is not firmly rooted in the Cross of Christ will lead people astray. The calling of a New Testament worker is to expose sin and to reveal Jesus Christ as Savior… We are sent by God to lift up Jesus Christ, not to give wonderfully beautiful speeches. We must be willing to examine others as deeply as God has examined us. We must also be sharply intent on sensing those Scripture passages that will drive the truth home, and then not be afraid to apply them.” Oswald Chamber, My Utmost For His Highest

Will we preach the Word? Will we compromise and look the other way when pushed? Will we accept sin as normal because the culture does?

Theologian John Stott once said, “There are many popular preachers today, but not many powerful ones.” Yes, many preachers can elicit all kinds of wild emotions, but that doesn’t necessarily transform lives.

George Barna, the research guru has it right when he describes the idea of a “market-driven, consumer satisfaction” philosophy in our churches today.

“Consumer satisfaction means that the standard of righteousness cannot be raised too high. And there you have the seeds of a ‘watered down gospel’ sown in the very philosophy that drives many ministries and many churches today. And make no mistake about it, this methodology, this new philosophy of ministry is altering the message the church conveys to the world.

Unfortunately, the market-driven philosophy appeals to the very worst mood of our age. It caters to people whose first love is self and who do not care for God unless they can have Him without disrupting their lifestyles. Promise such people a religion that will allow them to be comfortable in their materialism and comfortable in their self-love and they will respond in droves.” George Barna, Barna Research Group

God forbid! Al Mohler recently wrote:

“The sacred desk (the pulpit) has become an advice center and the pew has become the therapist’s couch. The problem, of course, is the sinner does not know what his most urgent need is. He is blind to his need for redemption and reconciliation to God, and focuses on… personal fulfillment, financial security, family peace, and career advancement.

In the end, the Christian preacher simply must confront the congregation with the Word of God. That confrontation will be at times awkward, challenging and difficult. After all, this is the Word that pierces us like a sword. The evangelical preacher must set his aim at letting the sword loose, neither hiding it nor dulling its edge.” Al Mohler, President Southern Seminary

Methodist writer, Bill McKibbens said this about our modern-day churches:

“The pastors focus relentlessly on you and your individual needs. Their goal is to service consumers… The result is often a kind of soft-focus, comfortable, suburban faith. A New York Times reporter visiting one booming mega-church outside Phoenix recently found the typical scene: a drive-through latte stand…sermons about ‘how to reach your financial goals, how to invest your money and reduce your debt.’ On Sundays children played with church-distributed Xboxes, and many congregants had signed up for a twice-weekly aerobics class called ‘Firm Believers.’” Bill McKibbens

Is this what we’ve become? I pray not!

Preach the word dear friend and follower of Jesus. Be prepared to lose friends over it. Be prepared to be called “closed-minded.” Be prepared to be called names that can’t be repeated here. Yes, preach the word! Preach it in love. Preach it seasoned with grace. Preach it with clarity and boldness, but for the love of the King…preach the Word!

I really believe the majority of Americans believe almost anything they see on TV. They take it as Gospel. The same is true if something is in print or on the web. That’s dangerous. In fact, it’s very dangerous!

Everything you and I read or see comes from a particular worldview or perspective. Think of a pair of glasses. Think of how you might like at the world…

Refraction_through_glasses_090306Please understand that the History Channel and the Science Channel have an agenda and it’s not to push Christianity. Nor does Newsweek Magazine.

Did you see this latest article just before Christmas (got to love the timing)…

newsweekcover2015-225x300

Can you see the subtitle? It says, “So Misunderstood it’s a Sin.” Oh my! In fact, the writer of the article gets it so wrong that it truly is a sin!! Yikes! It’s one of the most pitiful attempts to degrade and slam the Bible I’ve ever seen. Yet, people will read this article and fall for the lies hook, line and sinker.

This is the guy who wrote the article:

Kurt-Eichenwald-Photo-credit-Jessica-DOnofrio

Thats Kurt Eichenwald.

I must say that he has an impressive reputation as a writer and reporter for newspapers like The New York Times and magazines like Vanity Fair and Newsweek. He was even a finalist for a Pulitzer Prize. Most of his writing has been on business and financial matters, including business scandals. But, he decides to write an article about the Bible where he totally lacks any journalistic credibility because he only sources critics and haters of evangelical Christianity, and he does not even represent some of them accurately.

Look at how he begins the article:

“They wave their Bibles at passersby, screaming their condemnations of homosexuals. They fall on their knees, worshipping at the base of granite monuments to the Ten Commandments while demanding prayer in school. They appeal to God to save America from their political opponents, mostly Democrats. They gather in football stadiums by the thousands to pray for the country’s salvation.

They are God’s frauds, cafeteria Christians who pick and choose which Bible verses they heed with less care than they exercise in selecting side orders for lunch. They are joined by religious rationalizers—fundamentalists who, unable to find Scripture supporting their biases and beliefs, twist phrases and modify translations to prove they are honoring the Bible’s words, [they] claim to revere it but don’t read it, in the process creating misery for others.” Kurt Eichenwald, Newsweek Magazine

Isn’t that a sad way to describe us? Did some “Evangelical Christian” run over his dog when he was 8 years old? If you read the article, it won’t take you long to see that his agenda is not veiled or hidden. In my estimation he desires to summarily destroy faith in and the authority of the Bible.

So be careful what you read and what you watch and what you believe. Just because you see something on the Science Channel, or Discovery Channel, or Animal Planet, History Channel, PBS, NPR Radio, etc., etc., doesn’t mean it’s right and truthful.

If you watch the Weather Channel long enough you’ll think the world is going to implode tomorrow because of carbon dioxide because of  “Climate Change” (a.k.a. Global Warming). Yeah right. Pick the study you want to use. Most “scientists” today are being paid to write for journals and publications that support their contention that the world is warming. Therefore, greed sets in and a scientist will slant his findings to give the “paying publication” what they want.

Now, please understand, I’m not saying this happens across the board on these channels or in these publications. No. That would be unfair and would be painting with too broad of a brush. What I am saying is to be careful and understand the worldview and set of lenses a writer, reporter, journalist, etc. is looking at when discerning fact from fiction.

Let me give you another example…

BU-042914-info1

See…things aren’t as they always seem.

Here’s another one: College.

Did college prepare you for your job? Let’s see what Barna.org (Barna Research) has to say in a recent poll.

BU-061014-info1

Now, I say all of this to simply point out: BE CAREFUL WHERE YOU GET YOUR INFORMATION, and please, please, please, believe something because you have researched it, not just because somebody like Oprah Winfrey, Ellen DeGeneres or Dr. Phil tell you to believe it.

Because over time this is what’s going to be covering America…

http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2014/12/09/what-politicians-do-17-seconds-into-this-video-is-being-called-un-american-and-an-act-of-discrimination/

That’s a video of an Atheist who was allowed to come to pray at a local commissioner’s meeting. It’s pathetic.

You’ll also note (if you watched the video that it comes from “The Blaze,” which is Glenn Beck’s site. I will tell you I’m not advocating his site or all of his views… But, I did think this video was worth putting up on my blog because it shows the absolute idiocy that is pervading our nation. This guy made a mockery of that entire meeting. And did you see those who stayed actually folded their hands and bowed their heads? Oh my!!

Do you think some of those commissioners have been listening to enough of the “tolerance,” “compromise,” “don’t offend,” mantra that’s out there and just finally caved in? I sure do.

We have to be proactive and intentional in knowing and understanding the Scriptures. We have to use the Bible as our plumb line. It squares all knowledge and all information. If it doesn’t square with Scripture, then chuck it. It’s that simple.

Well, all good things come to an end. Charlotte left us over the weekend and my heart aches for her (so does my family). We miss her, Katy and Josh. Parting is indeed “such sweet sorrow.”

IMG_1964

Yep…those are tears in my eyes.

We’re all missing her…

Josh gets out of the Marines in July and Lord willing they’ll be back in Wilkes shortly thereafter. We can’t wait!!

WEATHER UPDATE:

Are you ready for the cold? These are the wind chills for tomorrow night at midnight.

B6tBJAfCUAIe087

People are asking me about snow since it’s going to be so cold. Well, it doesn’t look likely for the next 10 days…

B6syg-9IEAAEyAv

But, I wouldn’t rule out some potential freezing rain into early next week. Right now the models are jumping around on it, but it’s about 30-40% chance.

By the way, do you have a weather app on your phone? I have FOUR! 🙂 You will notice that they are often different. Why? Because they are following different computer models. Some follow the European Model (ECMWF), some follow what the US model also called GFS. Sometimes the Euro model have things pegged better and sometimes the US. Honestly, the European model has been better than the US most of the time for the last couple of years. We actually need better programming into our models. There are other models. But, these two are the biggest and most used.

Here’s the forecast for Jan-Mar in temps. You’ll have to look hard for the US. We are near the right-top corner.

B6orwemIAAAdPYr

See all that blue? It looks like we’ll be colder than normal, but remember the temps fluctuate from week to week. Look what we are having this week. 50 today and 24 on Thursday. Remember we live in the south. We don’t live in Michigan. So, it will be up and down and we’ll see if the southern jet can mix with the northern and get us some snow. February is usually our best shot for snow.

God knows. 🙂
