We had a birthday party for Jesus tonight at my sister’s house. Kim, the food was fantastic as usual. A spiral ham, baked beans, macaroni salad, deviled eggs, baked rolls, sweet tea and dessert! The dessert! Yum! Taylor, (my niece), baked a wonderful chocolate pound cake. We even blew out the candles…
After the meal we gave presents to Jesus. How did we do that? Well, we dedicated the presents or “monetary gifts” to causes we felt compelled to help/support.
Clara gave her money she had been saving to help via Samaritan’s Purse to feed a baby for a week. Andrew gave his money to help Hope Ministries. He said “I want to help wittle boys and gurls dat don’t have no toys.” (We’re still working on his grammar. Wink)
Katy and Kandace wanted to help the Mexican couple, (pastor and wife), we support as a church in Progreso, Mexico. Oscar and Miriam are very dear to our heart.
Taylor and Leah and my sister and brother-in-law are going through the process of adopting two oriental boys from Russia. Taylor and Leah are shown here giving their money to help in that adoption process.
Taylor and Clara were enjoying some special time together working on some new sign language.
Andrew had a “big time” with his Aunt “Kimmie.”
I thought about it as we were gathering the children around my mom and dad…”This is such a blessing.” We are not promised a “tomorrow.” We may not all be together like this next year, so enjoy each day as if it were your last. I am a blessed man. I have my wife and my children and my parents and my sister and her family…all together…same town…living on the same hillside. What an honor. Thank you Lord!
